John Piper – Did God’s Plan Include Sin from the Beginning?

“Wimpy worldviews produce wimpy Christians”

So what do you think?

  1. Everything that happens happens by God’s decree and for His Glory.

Piper is absolutely correct; the Cross was not “Plan B”! Before God made anything, His plans were complete and perfect and good and right.

The words of Peter say it so very well:

“Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know– this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death. But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.
    (Acts 2:22-24 NASB)

The Cross was God’s predetermined plan. When were those plans made? Before the Fall, or after? God’s actions are not dependent on man in any way. He is never reacting to us. We are totally dependent on Him, while He is in no way dependent on us at all. Ephesians 1:4 tells us that God’s people were chosen “before the foundation of the world.” The Fall the our Redemption were planed before Creation began.

And I do like Piper’s, “Wimpy worldviews produce wimpy Christians.” We see that all around us, too.

  2. Craig,

I am reminded again of the fact that by Him and through Him and to Him are all things……..His-story.
